fostering a grateful spirit

I don’t know about you, but for me, yesterday felt extremely chaotic. With everything going on in Boston, the day felt like a flurry of news: videos, interviews, pictures of entire communities evacuated and locked down, law enforcement everywhere. It was overwhelming, to say the least. I can’t imagine what the day felt like for those families in the communities that were evacuated.
But then at work, I got to be part of something really joyful and beautiful. A man surprised his girlfriend by renting a theater, showing a DVD that he had made for her, and then proposing. Their families came to join in the celebration after he asked, and there were tears and hugs all around.
I am grateful for the reminder that even when darkness and chaos feel like they are the most true thing, love is still beautiful and full of joy and all around us.
