lucky {day 318} (late)

I know I’ve been saying it a lot recently, but I am feeling grateful again that I get to do stuff like this (^). for. my. job. It is an amazing gift to be able to be a part of such a special day in peoples’ lives and to be a part of making really beautiful things out of already beautiful things. Being surrounded by flowers? Awesome!

What’s your dream job?

flowers {day 280}

today the owner of the company I work for (and a few other folks from corporate) sent me a beautiful going away bouquet. I am thankful to work for people who care for me well, and who enabled me to care for my employees well. it is truly a blessing.

when I walked into my office this afternoon, it smelled so flowery and wonderful. later I realized that my “office” will smell like that everyday from now on. holy cow. I am a floral designer. I. am. blessed.

beauty {day 245}

Today I am grateful for these pretty flowers and the chance to work with them for a few hours. Beautiful flowers are one of the best cures I’ve found for a cold, dreary April day.

What beautiful things do you like to surround yourself with to cheer you up?

bright spot {day 221}

Today was tough. Woke up to news of a college classmate’s passing. I did not know him especially well, but I do know that he was kind and generous and young. He was just so young. We also got bad news about Drew’s grandma tonight. A couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with lymphoma and started chemo. After some big complications last week, they found out today that it has also spread to her brain. Today just feels so heavy. And I HATE cancer.

So today I am grateful for these fresh flowers-a needed bright spot in a cold, snowy, dreary, heavy day. Sometimes all you need to make it though a really crappy day is the reminder that this darkness and heaviness is not all there is. Spring will come. Thank you, Jesus.

love {day 189}

grateful for a day spent at a (very busy!) flower shop making pretty arrangements to remind people they’re loved.

and for my valentine, who journaled this morning and who regularly makes me feel loved. I’m a super lucky gal.

happy valentine’s day, sweet friends. don’t forget that you are so loved- whether you have a valentine or not.

expo {day 156}

today was the bridal expo- my first chance to really start with picking theme and flowers, to making bouquet and centerpieces and then putting it all together for an event–and it was awesome! so grateful for my sweet and talented friend who is extremely generous with her knowledge and encouragement.
I am also grateful for my sweet hubs who, even though he’s been miserably sick, has supported me 100% this weekend and been my constant cheerleader. I am so blessed to have a husband who is my #1 fan…in everything I do.
I am feeling so blessed today.

tonight I’m grateful for fresh flowers, which I’ve missed, and for the time I get to spend making beautiful things with them tomorrow.
also grateful that my sweet hubs is doing much better today. he is still pretty sick, but he didn’t have any crazy reactions like he did yesterday. I’m so thankful, I’m not sure I could have handled two super scary days in a row.

what’s your favorite thing to create?

today I am grateful for this beautiful arrangement

which came from some of my favorite people literally just seconds after the police officer who got my car unlocked left.
I don’t know about you, but I think locking my keys in my car is one of the most irritating things that can happen.
we were on our way to a family party and then I had to work.
I locked my keys
and wallet
and coat
and work keys
and phone
all in the car.
thankfully, the police here still unlock cars and we had a very wonderful and friendly officer.
and just when I was feeling super frustrated with myself, flowers came. 🙂
also grateful that I got to listen to one of my favorite songs on my way home

20121223-020850.jpg (Mumford, sigh no more) because my car’s CD player finally decided to release it’s captive cd (which it wouldn’t play or spit out) and play Mumford for me.
and last, but definitely not least, I’m grateful for friends who remind me that I’m loved. 🙂
